Following the 4th International Convocation of Unitarian Universalist Women and People of Progressive Faiths, Kolozsvár (Cluj), Transylvania, September 2024, we launched an appeal for contributions carrying forward the spirit of the Convocation and our shared commitment to a better world. Convocation participants were invited to submit writings honoring the theme of the event, "Weaving a Tapestry of Peace and New Perspectives:" personal stories or those of female ancestors that inspire and transform.
The Storytelling Project Team (Gizella Nagy, Annamária Oltean, and Zsófia Sztranyiczki) received 22 contributions, of which 15 were selected for inclusion in the publication titled Ties that Bind: Weaving Stories of Resilience, Community, and Change. These stories encapsulate hardships, joys, acts of defiance, personal crises, coping with grief and loss, overcoming adversity, tales of survival, and ways to approach sensitive, painful situations. Special illustrations of the textiles that participants were asked to bring to the 4th Convocation enrich the texts, contributing to a "colorful global tapestry" interwoven with durable strands of our U/U faith.
We invite you to read each unique story and join us on June 9th to discuss the book!
